Our friends at High Output will have some of their lighting and grip equipment in our studio this evening before and after our Second Monday Lecture Series if y'all want to come check out the cyc space and play with the gear. They'll have gear for both Still and Video set up, which you can come see and demo!
We have a great free lecture for this evening by Ben Ham from 7-8 pm. He's a large format photographer who shoots black and white fine art landscapes. His prints will be hanging in our main hall.
Come by the Charleston Center for Photography for a night full of photo-centric events!
On Monday, June 11, at 7 pm, the Charleston Center for Photography will welcome Ben Ham. The Second Monday Lecture Series are FREE and open to the public.
Acclaimed large format photographer, Ben Ham, is known for his large black and white images from the Lowcountry of South Carolina across the land to the West Coast. Self taught, his art is derived from his love of exploring nature. Ben does no commercial work and his work is only sold as framed limited edition fine art pieces and has become highly collected world wide. A collection of his works will be on display.
If you have heard Ben speak before you know that his programs are full of the tales of the adventures in capturing his images. While this lecture will certainly touch on that, Ben will dwell more on the elements of his craft. He will talk about his art from a standpoint of composition and how he approaches his subjects. He will discuss his techniques used in large format photography. The lecture will have an extended Q&A to allow the audience to drive the direction of the discussion. Whether shooting on film or digital, photography has a common foundation as an art that transcends equipment, skills that all photographers and artist benefit from.
