Police Week at Langley Air Force Base

No comments:
Andy and I traveled to Hampton, Virginia, last week to hang out with Air Force Security Forces members at Langley Air Force Base. It was Police Week and we wanted to make some portraits of them as a "thank you" for all they do.
We did bring our mobile studio with a white seamless backdrop and Manfrotto Backdrop Stand. We had the Elinchrom Ranger and the Elinchrom Ranger Quadra with a square softbox, strip box and reflector dishes.
We found a small room in an old building to photograph portraits of the SWAT Team. The wall was blue, which is fitting because the Air Force color is similar. However the wall was shiny. I had to make sure that any spilling light that bounced off the wall was strategically placed.
Each SWAT member got their own lighting treatment based on their face and body type. I posed them uniquely, based on personality too.
For our location shots, we used a "light on a stick". Basically we used the Elinchrom Ranger with a square softbox on a Manfrotto monopod
Andy and I work as a team. He'll help with the lights, arrangements, logistics and more. It's nice to have a partner you can rely on!
We had a wonderful time with the officers and extremely happy with how our pictures turned. I believe they were equally excited too!
