The Charleston Center for Photography will be closed Friday (Dec. 23rd) through Monday (Dec. 26th).

Our storefront offices may be closed, but our website is still running 24 hours a day and taking registrations. If you're interested in our class and workshop schedule, please see our upcoming events below.

Getting to Know Your Camera Workshop
with Stacy Pearsall and Andy Dunaway

This on-day workshop is designed with the very beginner photographer in mind. If you just got a digital camera, then this workshop is what you need. Instructors, Stacy and Andy, will give students hands-on camera orientation training and allow each student to openly ask any questions they have about their gear. They'll go over universal camera terms, buttons, functions, and operations - no matter the brand. They'll also teach the basic principles of photography to help students get well on their way to making pictures with their new cameras. A portion of the workshop will be dedicated to actually shooting the camera with Stacy and Andy present, so they may guide and teach each student how to properly use their equipment.

Equipment: Digital Camera is required and both DSLR or Point-and-Shoots are welcome.

Introduction to Digital Photography Workshop

While the principles of photography have not changed, there are some considerations which accompany the use of digital camera. Selection of a file type, white balance, and image resolution are among the basics of digtial photography. The workshop will also cover the fundamentals of exposure, the effects of shutter speed and aperture, and lenses. Students must have a digital SLR camera, but do not need to know how to use it for this beginner workshop.

Basic Studio Lighting with Elinchrom Lights Workshop

In this basic lighting workshop, students will learn the basics of Elinchrom lighting system available in the CCforP Studio. Students will learn how to assemble, trigger, and meter for a proper exposure. Several basic lighting techniques will be discussed, and students will take turns creating images.

Prerequisites: Students must be able to shoot in fully manual mode, and must be comfortable will all modes of their camera.
Equipment: Students must have a Digital SLR camera with and interchangeable lenses. This camera must be able to operate in manual mode. A hand held light meter is suggested, but not required. It is not required to know how to use the light meter. A sturdy tripod is also suggested, but not required.

The Charleston Center for Photography's deadline for getting Fine Art prints made for the Holiday's is 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21st. Everything will be printed and ready for pick up by 5:00 p.m., Thursday, December 22nd.

Images may be submitted via email, cd or thumb drive to CCforP Print Master, Sally Hayes at Sally@CCforP.org. We are located on upper King Street behind the Joggling Board Company, next to the Butcher & Bee. We're number 654 and have the bright red door.

We will be closed on Friday, December 23rd through Monday, December 26th.

A Night With America's Greatest Generation

I had the rare opportunity of photographing WWII veterans during a Pearl Harbor remembrance dinner. I feel blessed to hear their stories and to have a chance to know them, even if briefly. Their legacy will last through the ages.
